Kelvin Beachum signs with New York Jets

The New York Jets have officially made a decision to attend National Football League free agency on Friday. Beachum can fill the need left by Ryan Clady after the Jets decided not to renew his contract.

On Friday evening, the Jets signed OT Kelvin Beachum to a 3-year/$24M deal with $12 million guaranteed.

The Jets also re-signed Tanner Purdum, their long-snapper since 2010, on Friday.

Beachum, 27, started 15 games for Jacksonville last season at left tackle. During his three seasons with the Cardinals, he connected on 84.8 percent of his field goal attempts. Catanzaro signed a free agent contract with the Arizona Cardinals after the 2014 National Football League draft. In 2015, he was 28-for-31 on field goals, tying the Cardinals' franchise record with 53 extra points. If those things happen, then Beachum can void the deal for 2019, as long as he notifies the Jets on or before the 22nd day prior to the start of the 2019 league year. He replaces Nick Folk, who was released two weeks ago after seven seasons with the Jets. He spent his first four seasons with Pittsburgh.

Cantazaro, 26, originally signed with Arizona as an undrafted free agent in 2014.

Ijalana, who has played both left and right tackle, will likely compete with Brandon Shell on the right side of the Jets' offensive line.
