Queens: Cow Runs Loose After Slaughterhouse Escape But Is Recaptured

"It escaped from a slaughterhouse on Jamaica Avenue", CBS 2 NY reports. It wouldn't be for almost two hours until police finally captured the black bovine in a person's backyard.

Similar incidents happened at least twice past year, when cows escaped slaughterhouses, NBC New York reported.

A bull was on the loose in Jamaica, Queens on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017.

The black bull was first spotted around 10 a.m. roaming on Liberty Avenue and 150th Street in Jamaica.

Although the animal was sedated with darts, it managed to continue evading other attempts to corner it until about 12:30 p.m.

A cow was on the loose in Queens, New York on Tuesday. But the determined bull escaped, WABC reported.

Authorities started trying to round him up just before 11 in the morning. Police officers asked workers at the scene to help corral the animal, the station added.

According to NBC 4 in NY, initial details as to where the cow came from and how it got loose were not available.

Officials said the bull's remains will be taken to a crematorium.

The Daily News reported the cow died after it was tranquilized by police.
