Mitsubishi names new SUV the Eclipse Cross | New Release

Mitsubishi has revealed more details and pictures of its upcoming all-new SUV, which will make its first public appearance during next month's Geneva Motor Show.

It's believed that the new Eclipse Cross SUV will take some inspiration from the Mitsubishi XR-PHEV concept, which was previously shown at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show.

The Eclipse Cross will be on sale in Europe in the third quarter. The Eclipse was a popular sports coupe and convertible back in the day, and Cross is obviously short for crossover. However, the company has reportedly now made a decision to revive the brand name by utilizing it for a new crossover vehicle that will be replacing the Mitsubishi Outlander.

Once released to the market, the Eclipse Cross will sit in between the Outlander Sport crossover and the larger Outlander SUV.

Whether the plug-in hybrid drivetrain of the Mitsubishi Outlander will expand to the Eclipse Cross remains to be seen.
