YouTube cancels Scare PewDiePie premium show

YouTube cancels Scare PewDiePie premium show

Kjellberg, a big star of Disney-owned Maker Studios, has 53 million subscribers to his "PewDiePie" YouTube channel. He is known for his videos that feature him commenting while he plays video games. His videos have been watched, collectively, billions of times.

The videos have already led to Disney's Maker Studios canceling its deal with Kjellberg on Monday.

YouTube chose to cancel the show of one of its most popular creators after The Wall Street Journal reported that he made anti-semitic jokes or showed images in some of the videos posted on his channel.

Meanwhile, Kjellberg on last Sunday acknowledged in a post on his Tumblr page that the jokes were ultimately offensive. Additionally, YouTube is "removing the PewDiePie channel from Google Preferred", an ad program for "stars" that are most desirable to advertisers.

But PewDiePie's irreverent humor also cost him partnerships with both Maker and YouTube, which announced Tuesday that it canceled the second season of his reality show, "Scare PewDiePie", amid backlash over anti-Semitic references. "Kjellberg will still be able to run ads against his videos, but will likely see a drop in revenue", the site reports. Maker contracts with individuals such as Kjellberg to produce videos for various YouTube channels.

Kjellberg also allegedly hired two men via Fiverr to hold a sign that says "Death to All Jews" while being dressed as self-described jungle boys. A brief caption beneath reads, "Trying to hide a smile from triggered SJWs", which is short for "social justice warriors", Internet slang for liberal activists - who might complain about a sign saying "Death to all Jews". I feel partly responsible. In many cases, he was mocking the media for characterizing him as "racist".

Trump Signs Executive Actions on Crime
The president signed an order to enforce federal laws against transnational criminal organizations and global drug traffickers. The president met earlier Thursday at the White House with airline executives.

An investigation conducted by The Wall Street Journal revealed nine videos with anti-Semitic content. "I think of the content that I create as entertainment, and not a place for any serious political commentary", he said. "What a new generation of creators need to understand is that making content for audiences can be a business, but appealing to them shouldn't happen at all costs".

"As laughable as it is to believe that I might actually endorse these people, to anyone unsure on my standpoint regarding hate-based groups: No, I don't support these people in any way", the YouTube star wrote in his statement.

"Just putting it out there brings it more and more into the mainstream", he told the newspaper. "[PewDiePie] is not a real racist", said Klein.

This isn't his first time he's been involved in controversy; his Twitter was suspended briefly past year over concerns that his profile was hacked.

It has amassed more than 14 billion views, which is also more than anyone else on YouTube.
