Arise Malcolm - the no-name 'President of Australia'

President Donald Trump went on the attack after the phone call with Malcolm Turnbull.

What was expected to be an hour-long phone call between the leaders of the long standing allies nations was cut short after 25 minutes.

The Washington Post also reported that Mr Trump berated Mr Turnbull in their Jan 28 phone call when discussing the deal.

Neither Ms Bishop nor Mr Turnbull echoed the views of British Prime Minister Theresa May, who said through her spokesman that "we do not agree with" the approach taken by Mr Trump on immigration.

The story Donald Trump tells Malcolm Turnbull he will honour deal to resettle refugees from Nauru and Manus first appeared on The Sydney Morning Herald.

Former Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd said he believed the almost 70-year alliance will easily survive the disagreement.

Both developments came only days after Turnbull's leadership was questioned after he was berated by U.S. President Donald Trump over a refugee resettlement deal in a tense telephone call that hit worldwide headlines.

In November, former US President Barack Obama and Turnbull concluded a deal to resettle refugees, now detained in Australian offshore detention camps on the Manus Island in Papua New Guinea and Nauru in the South Pacific, facilitated by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

UC Berkeley's Violent Protest Is A Lesson In Free Speech And Privilege
The violent protests were sparked after Breitbart editor Milo Yiannopoulos attempted to hold a scheduled speech at the college. An estimated 500 people gathered, holding signs that say "Hate Speech Is Not Free Speech" and pledging to shut down the event.

"But out of respect for [Turnbull], he's going to allow that process - continue to study it and allow it to move forward under the conditions that have been set - that there will be extreme vetting on every single one of those individuals".

The disclosure also explains why Mr Turnbull has declined to elaborate on the call, other than saying it ended courteously.

Fairfax reports Trump's intention during last week's call was to dump the deal, but Turnbull persuaded him otherwise.

Mr Trump chose to repudiate it as a deal between two men, but Mr Turnbull apparently persuaded him that it was a deal between two nations.

In a statement published online by the Office of the Press Secretary on Saturday, the administration listed the ways Mr Trump had delivered "on his promise to make America safe again", including how he had spoken with 16 world leaders.

While this is accurate, it is not true that there is no Australian reciprocation.

"This secret deal to import risky refugees into the U.S. is exactly what the American people soundly rejected in November with the election of Donald Trump".

Under this plan, Australia eventually will accept some of the Costa Ricans, though none has yet been resettled in any third country.
