Midnight deadline for Affordable Care Act health insurance looms

Midnight deadline for Affordable Care Act health insurance looms

New York City officials took a stand against an ACA repeal in December with the launch of a campaign to enroll as many as 50,000 new beneficiaries in state exchange health plans over a period of 12 months.

Open enrollment for health insurance through the NY state's exchange ends Tuesday, Jan. 31.

"It's a lot more expensive to have a sick society", she said.

The last-minute enrollment brings to 3.6 million the number of New Yorkers who signed up for health coverage through NY State of Health this season, up 28 percent from past year.

At this point nothing is certain, except if you're not signed up by midnight you won't have coverage for 2017. Of the 20 million Americans covered under the law, half were thrown into traditional Medicaid, a failing program that studies show leaves patients worse off than their uninsured counterparts.

Through Dec. 31, Florida lead the nation in Obamacare enrollment with more than 1.6 million signups.

Central Command said the raid also captured information that could be helpful in understanding future terror plots. He said Apache attack helicopters struck the area from the air before dropping commandos in for the raid.

If you enroll by the deadline, no matter what happens with the Affordable Care Act, you're guaranteed to have insurance coverage for all of 2017. She says it's a problem when students in health-related fields are having issues figuring out how ti sign themselves up for health insurance.

The Obama administration projected 13.8 would have coverage in 2017.

"I have nerve compression in my neck, in my lower back, I have polyarthritis, I have fibromyalgia, I have scoliosis and spondylosis, and I have seizures", Myrtle Beach resident Marcia Murphy said.

Paul LePage (R) said he doesn't think congressional Republicans will actually repeal the Affordable Care Act, known as Obamacare, acknowledging that it would be too risky to upend the current system that people are already using. In addition, Wisconsin offered consumer protections, guaranteed access for the most vulnerable, and had state authority to enforce the laws.

The enrollment figures included more than 2.4 million people who enrolled in Medicaid, 242,880 who signed up for private insurance plans, and 299,214 children qualified for the state's Child Health Plus program. It would be a mistake for the Republicans to repeal the ACA and then push a heavily partisan bill through the Congress and into law. Another 26% say it has had a detrimental effect and 46% say they haven't been personally affected by it.

"I'm sure questions are arising in people's minds about what all of this means, and part of it is, "If I don't buy it, will I be subject to the penalty?'" Ullmann said".
