Pro-cannabis group hands out thousands of free joints in Washington

They started handing the joints out at 8 a.m., and around 10:45 a.m., the group started walking toward the National Mall.

Mason Tvert, communications director of the Marijuana Policy Project, declined to comment on the inaugural protest but told ATTN: that he didn't see much use for legalization protest efforts aimed at the Trump administration for the time being because "we don't know what the administration's marijuana policy will be".

Pro-weed group org DCMJ is handing out upwards of 4,200 free joints to the public Friday at DuPont Circle - about 3 miles away from the US Capitol, where Trump will be sworn in.

Trump's nominee as attorney general, Jeff Sessions, is a critic of legalization.

The organizers called on anyone who gets an "inauguration joint" from them to light it four minutes and 20 seconds into Trump's inauguration speech. Sessions has previously spoken out against marijuana legalization.

Music's biggest stars announced to perform at the Grammys
As she belted out " All I Ask " a microphone fell onto the piano, resulting in a clanging sound. CBS has confirmed that Adele will be performing at the Grammy Awards.

"We legalized cannabis in Washington, D.C. and we are not going to let anyone take that away from us!", the group wrote on its website. DCMJ members played music and shouted out pro-marijuana messages to the crowd, proclaiming that marijuana wasn't unsafe and that people who smoke it aren't criminals.

Some of the volunteers handed out joints from inside a cage, meant to signify that some people in the USA are in jail for possessing or selling marijuana, which is legal in other parts of the country.

Make America Great Again! Those smoking on federal land risk arrest.

At the head of the line a crowd of festive demonstrators and smokers formed, while people, many in costume, handed out water and sold burritos.

All recipients of cannabis at the DCMJ "pot-luck" were verified to be at least 21 years old.
