Latest Amazon Prime perk is 5% awards back credit card

The card, only available to Amazon Prime members, also gives rewards on other purchases, including 2% back at restaurants and gas stations and 1% back "on every other purchase", the companies said in their announcement Wednesday.

Amazon (AMZN, Tech30) and Chase, the credit card division of JPMorgan Chase (JPM), said the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card provides 5% back on all Amazon.com purchases. Prime members buy from Amazon more than three times each month on average, compared with twice per month for non-members, and bring the company profits 80% higher than non-subscribers.

"You can check if your card earns 5% Back on Amazon.com purchases by going to Your Account and clicking Manage Payment Options". The new rewards' amplification is a clear indication of the latter now providing Amazon shoppers with 4 branded credit cards for the ultimate user experience.

Okay, I saw this press release in my inbox this morning and I got super excited but figured there must be a hidden catch - well it turns out if you pay your bills on time and are addicted to Amazon this is an fantastic credit card.
