California storm delays SpaceX rocket launch

Iridium, a company out of McLean, Virginia, worked with SpaceX to launch the first of 10 new satellites on the Falcon 9 rocket from the Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.

The September 1 explosion had delayed SpaceX's return to flight, which is now scheduled for Monday. Because buckles were found in the recovered pressure vessels, it was concluded that the super chilled oxygen may have pooled the buckles enough to cause a chain of reaction leading to the failure of the COPV.

Elon Musk's SpaceX rocket company has been cleared to resume flying following a launch pad explosion four months ago, the USA federal aviation Administration (FAA) said at the weekend. The rocket was fueled and briefly fired its nine main engines without any reported issues, officials said.

The company, which is going through a recovery from the devastating explosion of a Falcon 9 back in September, was issued a return-to-flight certificate by the Federal Aviation Administration.

The American Taxpayer, Not Mexico, Will Pay For The Wall
Former Mexican President Vincente Fox Quesada repeated that refusal to pay for Trump's "Great Wall" in a tweet sent this week. CNN and Politico said Trump would ask Congress to appropriate taxpayer funds to pay for better border security.

SpaceX's west coast launch pad is located at Vandenberg Air Force base, in the mountainous shore north of the company's Hawthorne, CA headquarters. Ten of its low-earth orbit satellites will launch along with the Falcon 9 to replace 20-year-old satellites now orbiting space.

That accident - the second of its kind since SpaceX was founded in 2002 - came just over a year after a Falcon 9 rocket failed after liftoff on June 28, 2015, destroying a Dragon cargo capsule bound for the International Space Station. The company said the long-term solution will be to redesign the helium canisters, which are made of an aluminum liner and a carbon overwrap.

The launch time moves between five and six minutes earlier each day, timed to place the 10 French-designed, US -built Iridium communications craft into one of six orbital planes now occupied by the company's aging satellites, which launched between 1997 and 2002 and were originally created to operate only eight years. SpaceX received on last Friday approval from FAA to perform launch of Falcon and ground specialists teams managed to perform successful test fire. Iridium operates a constellation of 66 satellites (plus spares) to provide mobile communications services similar to terrestrial cell phones, but using satellites instead of cell towers to relay the signals.

The one-day delay has also changed the launch time, which will now happen a few minutes earlier than the previous schedule. That number includes the 66 operational spacecraft needed to update the Iridium network, plus spares.
