The Texans will need Osweiler to improve this week if they hope to win a playoff game for the first time since the 2012 season. On the other side of the ledger, the Texans lost to three playoff teams by an average of 14 points, all on the road. From the NFC are Eli Manning of the New York Giants, Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers and Russell Wilson of the Seattle Seahawks. That will put Matt Cassel in at quarterback, and he was bad in relief of Tony Romo in Dallas last season. While the chances of this decision seemed highly unlikely at the beginning of the season when looking at all of the money invested in Osweiler, Savage seemed to provide the type of spark on offense Houston had been desperately seeking all season. He also fumbled five times this season, although only one was recovered by the opponent.

Whether they'd like to or not, the Houston Texans are turning to Brock Osweiler for Sunday's Wild Card Round playoff game against the Oakland Raiders.

O'Brien also indicated that Savage - who is still in concussion protocol - will serve as the backup, even if he's cleared before Saturday afternoon. In receiving, DeAndre Hopkins posted 954 yards and four touchdowns in 78 receptions while Will Fuller V added 635 yards and two touchdowns. Had Oakland won that game, and the Broncos had nothing to play for, then it would have been the AFC's No. 2 seed and been off this week.

Iraq to launch second phase attacks to liberate Mosul
Some 120,000 have fled since the operation began October 17, according to the United Nations. The airstrike was carried out at the request of the Iraqi forces, the statement added.

Everyone knows that defensive end J.J. Carr suffered a broken leg, and is will not be playing this week, and likely won't be until next season. Linebacker Benardrick McKinney is the dominant force on the defense in Houston now, as he registered 129 tackles this season for the Texans.

Jadeveon Clowney was drafted No. 1 overall in the 2014 NFL Draft.

The total has gone under in nine of the Texans' last 12 games at home.

Going into a playoff game with Brock Osweiler under center would keep any head coach up at night, but that situation looks downright advantageous compared to what the Raiders are dealing with. He followed up his best 15 minutes of football with the Texans, part of his Week Six fourth-quarter comeback vs. Indianapolis, with a clunker homecoming against his former team the following week, albeit one with an exceptional defense.
