Florida Republicans Focus on Israel on First Day of New Congress

Republican senators have introduced a bill to recognise Jersualem as Israel's capital and relocate the United States embassy there from Tel Aviv, a plan backed by the president-elect Donald Trump and his nominee for ambassador to Israel.

The effort is being spearheaded by Sens. It recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and mandates the relocation of the USA embassy to Jerusalem in order for it to "remain an undivided city in which the rights of every ethnic and religious group are protected as they have been by Israel since 1967".

Cruz noted that "the Obama administration's vendetta against the Jewish state has been so vicious that to even utter this simple truth - let alone the reality that Jerusalem is the appropriate venue for the American embassy in Israel - is shocking in some circles". Congress in 1995 passed a bill recognizing Jerusalem as the capital.

Rubio and Cruz lost to Trump in the Republican presidential primaries.

Sen. Dean Heller of Nevada, along with with Sens.

The bill also establishes a 30-day timeline from passage until the Secretary of State is required to supply Congress with a complete report on moving the embassy, including where the new site will be, how the land will be acquired, and who will be building it, as well as an estimate of total costs. However, every president since then has prevented it, often citing "national security concerns".

Investors are also taking a closer watch at the company's nuclear sector business as it is in danger of growing weaker significantly.

Trump's pick for ambassador to Israel - David Friedman, a NY lawyer and Orthodox Jew - is another signal the President-elect is willing to upend decades of U.S. policy in the Middle East.

The US and most other nations consider Israel's construction of new housing tracts in the West Bank and East Jerusalem - lands Palestinians see as part of their future state - as an obstacle to the hopes of a "two-state" solution between Israelis and Palestinians.

Trump's new ambassador to Israel, David Friedman said the embassy move "should have happened a long time ago", while Israel's envoy in the U.S, Ron Dermer, said it was "a great step forward for peace". That said, the US Congress has no jurisdiction over Israeli or global law and so passage of this section, while controversial, would be mostly symbolic.

"The United States has historically opposed and vetoed U.N. resolutions that are one-sided and anti-Israel", Ross said on Tuesday.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, center, arrives for a weekly cabinet meeting, in Jerusalem, Sunday, Jan. 1, 2017.

Trump, who takes office on 20 January, has repeatedly expressed his desire to move the embassy, "a position he shares with his nominee for Ambassador to Israel, David Friedman, a NY bankruptcy lawyer", Fox News says. "They used to have a great friend in the USA, but not anymore".
