Woman killed, daughters hurt in fall from Colorado ski lift

A woman is dead after a fall at a Colorado ski resort in which she and two underage kids tumbled from a ski lift. The family was visiting from Texas.

The woman, 40, was pronounced dead at a hospital, Schelly Olson, a spokeswoman for the Grand County Sheriff's Office, told CNN.

The mother and girls, ages 9 and 12, were halfway up the slope at Granby Ranch's Quickdraw Lift around 9:30 a.m. MT when the incident occurred, reports USA Today.

Granby police said Thursday afternoon that an adult female died at Middle Park Medical Center-Granby as a result of the accident. One of the kids was flown to Children's Hospital in Denver and the other remained in stable condition at the medical center in Granby. The 12-year-old daughter was treated at a local hospital and released.

There were witnesses to the fall, but what happened is unclear.

Investigators said the mother, who has not been named, was from San Antonio, KUSA-TV reported. The Colorado Passenger Tramway Safety Board has also sent an inspector to Granby to investigate, she added.
